I mentioned the ending was a problem in this review, quick blurb about that after the break.

The ending I have problems with is basically the last 2 pages - but well, this is a Novella. Basically, Nancy comes out of the situation in the book with a place at the Home with Kade. Is it totally happy for her? Certainly not (Seeing Jill's actions and Sumi's death don't help and of course she still wants to go back).
But the book doesn't end there - Nancy reads Sumi's last words about choosing her own story and magically the door opens to her world. It's very undeserved at that moment (oddly, it would've made more sense to me to have it open slightly earlier during the end of the confrontation with Jill, where Nancy talks about respect for the dead as her way to talk Jill down). And it ends leaving Kade basically all on his own. Which really sucks for him (and he knows he can't get back to his home).
It's just kind of a bittersweet ending that isn't deserved. And in combination with the murder mystery being really generic and obvious (Cmon, you know Jill is the killer like 1/3 of the way through), it's why I can't give this book a great rating (plus the size of the book for the price).
